What is the A.P.P.L.E. P.I.T.T LLC
and how did it get this name?
Back in the late 1970's, Humes was teaching a civilian self-defense program he named A.P.P.L.E., American Personal Protection Learning Exercise. After becoming a police officer and trainer/author for POLICE PRODUCT NEWS in 1983, A.P.P.L.E. evolved into American Police Protection Learning Exercise. In the mid-1980's when Humes became a driving force in police training, he needed a company name, which he chose the Police Institute of Tactical Training. (P.I.T.T.) Since the acronym A.P.P.L.E. was already associated with Humes' training through many of the law enforcement magazines, the two were combined and Humes' training company became the A.P.P.L.E. P.I.T.T. LLC.
